The Mouseketeers

There were 39 Mouseketeers, as well as the two adult hosts, during the original show's four years. Of these, only nine (indicated with a star) appeared throughout the entire period.

Jimmie Dodd (1955-59)
    The adult leader of the Mouseketeers, Jimmie wrote many of the songs used in the show, including the Mickey Mouse Club March. He continued to work for the Disney organisation until his death from a heart attack in 1964. He was then 54 years old.

Roy "The Big Mooseketeer" Williams  (1955-59)
    Roy had joined the Walt Disney organisation as an animator in 1930 and remained with it until he retired. He designed the mouse-ear hats. Roy died from a heart attack in 1976, aged 69.

Nancy Abbate (1955-56)

Sherry Alberoni (1956-57)
    Sherry has appeared in several  TV shows and movies in acting roles, as a singer (on the Andy Williams Show) and as a cartoon voice.

Sharon Baird (1955-59)
    Later appeared in several children's TV shows including Lidville, Land of the Lost, Welcome to Pooh Corner & Dumbo's Circus and moves, including Pufnstuf and Ratboy.

Bille Jean Beanblossom (1955-56)

Bobby Burgess (1955-59)
    Bobby performed as a dancer on the Lawrence Welk TV Show from 1961 to 1982.

Lonnie Burr (1955-59)
    Lonnie has appeared in about 25 films (including Hook and Lionheart), guest starred in 65 TV shows, appeared in about 50 plays, written numerous newspaper and magazine articles, published poetry and a book, Two for the Show.

Tommy Cole (1955-59)
    Tommy has become one of the most respected make-up artists in Hollywood.

Johnny Crawford (1955-56)
    Johnny made appearances in several TV shows and movies and had a starring role as the son of Chuck Connors in The Rifleman TV series. He served for 2 years in the army, worked as a longshoreman and spent 10 years on the rodeo circuit.

Bonnie Lynn Fields (1957-58)

Annette Funicello  (1955-59)
    Annette made several Disney films, including Zorro, The Shaggy Dog & Babes in Toyland, as well as a series of movies beginning with Beach Party in 1963 in which she co-starred with Frankie Avalon. She recorded a number of hit singles, including Tall Paul and Pineapple Princess. In 1987, she was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis. More recently, she has begun business ventures with a line of collectable teddy bears and her own perfume (Cello by Annette) the proceeds from which go to neurological research.

Darlene Gillespie (1955-59)
    Darlene became a nurse and performed as a country and western singer under the name Darlene Valentine. She has been convicted on dozens of counts of securities fraud, conspiracy, obstruction of justice and perjury.

Don Grady (1957-58)
    Don played Robbie Douglas on the TV series My Three Sons. He had a minor hit with the song Yellow Balloon (in the band of the same name). He later became a composer of TV and film scores.

Judy Harriet (1955-56)
    Judy had parts in two musical comedy movies and wrote some songs in the late 1950s.

Cheryl Holdridge (1956-59)
    Cheryl had a minor part in the Leave It to Beaver TV series and was a guest star in many other TV shows in the early 1960s.

Linda Hughes (1957-58)

Dallas Johann (1956-57)
    Dallas was replaced by his brother, John Lee Johann, because Dallas was often too nervous to perform.

Bonni Lou Kern (1956-57)

Charley Laney (1956-57)
    Charley died in 1997 (aged 53).

Larry Larsen (1956-57)
    Larry starred in some very bad science fiction TV shows in mid-1970s.

Carl "Cubby" O'Brien (1955-59)
    Cubby has performed as a studio drummer with numerous stars and in Broadway shows. He spent 10 years as drummer with The Carpenters. 

Karen Pendleton (1955-59)
    Karen was paralysed from the waist down in an automobile accident in 1983. She has since obtained a degree in psychology and works in a battered women's shelter.

Paul Petersen (1955)
    Fired for being disruptive, he played Jeff Stone on The Donna Reed Show from 1958 to 1966. During this period he made several recordings, including My Dad, which reached the Top Ten. He starred in a few minor films in the late 1960s. Since then, he has written spy novels and made occasional appearances in films and on TV.

    Mickey, with his brother, Tim, was fired after getting into mischief at the Disney paint shop. The Rooney brothers now run a TV and movie production company.

    Tim, with his brother, Mickey, was fired after getting into mischief at the Disney paint shop. He appeared in several movies and TV shows in the 1960s and early 1970s. The Rooney brothers now run a TV and movie production company.

    Michael died 1982, aged 37.

    While focusing on raising her son, Doreen has performed occasionally, including entertaining the troops in Vietnam.

Don Underhill (1956-57)

Tim Considine, the "Honorary Mouseketeer"
Although not a Mouseketeer, Tim starred in many of the serials in the show. He later starred in the film The Shaggy Dog and played Mike Douglas in the My Three Sons TV series. He then turned to writing and directing and finally to sports photography.
