Richard Henry "Peter" Sellers was born on 8 September 1925 in Hampshire. Both his parents and eight uncles were all in show business. After the war he got a job as a comedian at the Windmill theatre and then in the BBC doing many different voices in radio plays. At the Windmill Theatre, he met Harry Secombe and Michael Bentine who, together with Spike Milligan, created the Goon Show for BBC radio. Peter Sellers went on to have an illustrious career in movies, being rated as among the top 100 movie actors of all time. Peter Sellers died of a heart attack in July
1980. |
